Lineup for opener

The lineup posted for today's spring opener against Pittsburgh in Bradenton gave a hint of what you'll get in a regular season game against a left-hander (Zach Duke is starting for the Pirates) with Ken Griffey Jr. out:

Ryan Freel CF
Brandon Phillips 2B
Edwin Encarnacion 3B
Adam Dunn LF
Mark Bellhorn 1B
Josh Hamilton RF
Alex Gonzalez SS
David Ross C
Eric Milton P

Jeff Conine was in the original lineup posted at Ed Smith this morning. Will be interesting to see what Milton does. He's not restricted at all by elbow trouble he had at end of last season. He'll probably only go two innings, but that's going to be the standard for starters in their first outing.

So why does power-hitting Ross bat after light-hitting Gonzalez? Seems a waste to have him 8th in the order.

You dont want two below average hitters anchoring your lineup. I must admit I have to agree with Jerry here.

Any timeline for Junior to start hitting?

What? Jr. not in lineup? Sounds like a typical game in the season to me... Maybe the Reds gift shop could just sell red hospital gowns with Jr's # on the back. Seems like a more fitting uniform to me

C. Trent has Bellhorn at 1st and you have Conine. Who is right?
