The moves begin
Just walked up to Gary Majewski to ask him about something else. "I just got optioned," he said. "I'll get you after I make this phone call."
More moves are coming.
Majewski was cool with being optioned rather than put on the DL.
"I have an option," he said. "That's their right."
He finished up his chat with the writers by saying, "I'll you guys in about a month." He said he feels great but has to build the stamina to go back-to-back days.

Can't wait to hear how all of this shakes out!
Why didn't they put him on the 15-day DL and then use a rehab assignment instead of using up an option?
I think they are already setting in motion, the plan to keep both livingston and belisle up as well as sarloos. What this is saying is we are going to have an opening STILL at the 5 spot, unless you consider Milton down there already.
I believe that in order to do that, he would have had to go 15 days without pitching in a game, by optioning him he can start pitching right away.
Exiled - my thinking with Maj is that they don't want to be tied to a time-certain as to when he joins the team. They would be forced to send someone out who might not have played themselves off the team as of yet.
aren't options unlimited for an entire calendar year? not just a set amount of "up and downs" I-71?
Want to keep Burton and Santos? Option Stanton!
they get to pay him a minor league salary by optioning him.
they'd owe him a major league salary if he's on the DL.
Why the heck would you option Stanton? He has a track record of being a heckuva setup man.
