Another transaction
From the Reds: "In another transaction, IF Enrique Cruz cleared waivers and was outrighted off the 40-man roster to Chattanooga.
Our 40-man roster is at 39 players."
That opens a spot to bring up, someone not on the 40-man. Homer Bailey is not on the 40-man. Presumptuous on my part? Probably. But I think the Reds moved more quickly on the Todd Coffey-Gary Majewski thing than they normally would.
A renewed sense of urgency, perhaps?

Have they said another move was pending? I don't know, they've been saying too much about Homer going to stay in AA for a while longer. Wanting to call him up when he was up to stay for good. Calling him up doesn't seem like a no-brainer yet to me.
I think the Coffey/Majewski move is a no brainer. Most of the wait seemingly has been to make sure Majewski was ready. Coffey is a good, young pitcher, but he's just not getting guys out this year, he's given up 6 HR's already in less than 24 innings, and his strikeout rate has really dropped this month.
Personally, I'm guessing nothing happens immediately, and the move was to add flexibility when either the right deal comes along or when someone within the organization needs to be recalled.
A 40 man spot will need to be opened before they can bring Everyday Eddie off the 60-day DL, but he's probably not that close yet.
Have you heard any word that the Reds are working a trade that could be announced as early as today? This roster move plays into that. RM
Major league hitters would eat homer alive.
keep working on that breaking ball, homer
Anon.
What trade are you talking about? It's been awhile since I've heard any good rumors around here.
I heard something on WLW during the Stooge Report. Caught the tail end of it. But I was confident it was a gag.
