It's interesting with Billings and GCL Reds opening up. Del Rosario is a 21-year-old from the Dominican. This is his third pro season. He only allowed 99 hits and one home run in 122 2/3 ininngs coming into this year.
Juan Rafael, another 21-year-old Dominican, pitched five hitless ininngs of relief for the GCL. He's in his fourth year.
The Reds have to start producing Latin players to completely turn it around.
Also of note: Catcher Miguel Perez, on rehab from Louisville, homered for the GCL Reds.

John, Any word if Devin Mesaraco is close to signing and where he will play this summer?
Would not be surpised if some of the four go up to Sarasota. But they need a spot. Paul Janish and Drew Anderson are playing short and secord in Chatt.
As for Mesaraco, I read in one of the Pa. papers that he's ready to sign. He expected to be in Sarasota by now. His team, by the way, won the Pa. state title.
John, Any idea why the MLB ball is different from the minor league ball? Kind of like if the NBDL used a smaller ball than the NBA. Seems like it would make the transition easier for pitchers.I remember Coffey talking about the adjustment to his splitter when he first came up.
Bronson Arroyo's problems seemed to begin after the 129 pitch effort at San Diego on May 17. Jerry Narron tried to squeeze an extra inning out of him in that game and ever since then he's been struggling. His W-L record in the six starts following that loss is 0-5 and his ERA is 10.50. Instead of pushing him back one start, maybe the Reds should place him on the DL for a couple of weeks and let him rest his arm.

I think his slide started long before the San Diego game. Look at the 2nd half of the season last year, he wasn't all that spectacular like he was in the 1st 1/2. granted one or two of those can be attributed to the Bullpen, but on the whole he isn't that great. Don't get me wrong, I like him but I think he's a mediocre pitcher at best. Why else would Boston get rid of him, good teams don't trade 1 good player for 1 mediocre player and that's what Pena is.
The problem is they can't afford to give him a rotation off to rest and regroup.. It's apparent that they have little confidence in Livingston and Dumatrait otherwise they would have never sent Livingston down and Dumatrait isn't quite there yet.
