Reds Insider From news of the day to news of the weird, John Fay provides a glimpse of what it’s like to cover the Cincinnati Reds
John Fay has been the Reds beat writer for the Enquirer since 2001. Prior to that, he served in a variety of roles for the Enquirer: backup Reds writer, UC beat writer, backup Bengals writer and as a general assignment reporter. He is a Cincinnati native and a graduate of Elder High School and the University of Dayton.
More meaningless roster shuffling. Keppinger up, Keppinger down, McBeth, Salmon up and down and up and down. Milton to DL with fake injury, Livingston up and down. Narron fired.....oh wait, nevermind. That would actually make a difference.
this young man deserved to saty. he dominated in triple a.... then a member of his family died. coffey with an era above 5. a whip of almost 2. nothing says giving up more than the words...."and starting this evening....kirk saarloos."
I dont see anything wrong with having McBeth get his groove back in AAA. Tough to not pitch for 10 days after losing a family member and then make your major league debut with a club desperate for more than he can probably deliver. The expectations/desire for a saviour for this team and its season say it makes sense to give this kid his best chance to succeed and that is getting the rust off in a place he knows he can dominate. I'm glad Krivsky is the GM and not some you armchair gms.

At least, Moonlight Graham got to play the field even if he did get an at bat. This kid never got to show anything between the lines.

Boy, way to make it hard on the kid. He goes home for a family emergency and now he must feel like he lost his chance at the big leagues.
