Free agent rumors, Sarasota vote

I guess there's been rumors of free agents visiting the Reds cropping up on websites and in water cooler talk -- most prominently Carlos Silva. The people I talked to with the Reds shot down such such talk. It's against rules: Teams are not allowed to negotiate with or sign free agents -- other than their own -- until 16 days after the World Series.

John Allen doesn't expect to know the results of the referendum in Sarasota until 9 p.m. I'll post as soon as I know. I'm hoping it passes, purely for selfish reasons -- Sarasota is a great place to spend six weeks.

I hope the Sarasota vote passes also. I live in the Tampa area and have been able to take my daughter to a few of the spring training games.

I also hope it passes. I spent a long spring training weekend there this year as my first activity after a surgery. It was very enjoyable as we stayed at the Holiday Inn on Lido Beach. I'd like to begin doing that every year, without the surgery of course.

Teams are allowed to talk to players, just not talk money right?

I too would love to see the Reds stay in Sarasota. Next spring will be the 4th straight year. Can't wait to get back to Maria's for some delicious chicken. Props to C. Trent for that recommendation.

Free Agents - OK, I think the Reds should take a serious look at Silva but I got to wondering about the Marlins and Dontrel Willis. Willis didn't have a great year by any means but I think he's still a much better pitcher than most the Reds have on their staff with the exception of Harang and I wouldn't be surprised to see Willis bounce back this year. John, with the Marlins' history of trading higher payroll guys for tallented young players do you think it's even remotely possible that the Reds could work out a deal for Willis and would we even be interested in Willis? Thanks for all the updates.
