Tom Shearn pitched a scoreless 10th for the Reds and struck out two, including the last batter he faced, Yankees infielder Chris Basak, on a very good curveball.
The Tigers are up next, at 1:05 p.m. at Ed Smith Stadium. Sean Casey is not expected to make the trip. Aaron Harang will start for the Reds followed by Todd Coffey, Rheal Cormier, Michael Gosling and Bill Bray.
Bronson Arroyo will start against the Indians on Friday followed by Homer Bailey.
