Staying on the Key

I'm not making the roadie to Tampa for the Reds-Yankees game. My last day off until the Reds break camp. Kevin Kelly is covering. He's going to try to update on the game, the Blogger willing. The Reds didn't plan on bring the A lineup. It will be interesting to see how Bobby Livingston and Jared Burton do on the big stage.

The way the fifth starter competition is shaping up, one bad outing could really hurt. There aren't going to be enough innings to go around soon. The sleeper in the competition is Elizardo Ramirez. He breezed against the Twins in Fort Myers -- two innings, one infield hit. He scheduled to throw again tonight.

Siesta Key is definitely getting into the spring break mode. Plenty of college kids were on the beach when I took my morning stroll. The parking lot a public beach had the "full" sign out by 11:15 a.m.

I'm typing this from the Stickney Point Panera Bread. Average of the clientele is a full 20 years high than the one in frequent in Westwood.

Regarding Jared Burton: We saw him pitch at the "B" game on Sunday and he was bringing it. He had the best stuff of anyone on either team that day. We hadn't heard of him at the time but came away impressed. Good article on him this morning, John.
