Scoreless through four innings
TAMPA - No score through four innings here at Legends Field. The Reds have three hits - a bunt single by Ryan Freel to start the game and back-to-back singles by first baseman Jeff Conine and second baseman Brandon Phillips in the second.
Bobby Livingston started for the Reds and tossed three scoreless innings. He allowed five hits, struck out A-Rod looking and hit Jason Giambi with a pitch. The left-hander got out of a couple jams, and got some help from his defense, but all in all it was a solid effort against a star-packed Yankees lineup.
Brad Salmon pitched a scoreless fourth for the Reds.
Andy Pettitte, who was cheered on tonight by, among others, Roger Clemens, also pitched three scoreless. He walked two and struck out one. Mariano Rivera pitched a scoreless fourth....
