Reds 4-0; Keppinger out 4 to 6 weeks

Reds win again, despite Homer Bailey's struggles, beating Pittsburgh 10-4.

The Reds are 4-0.

All was not well, however: Infielder Jeff Keppinger suffered a broken right finger when hit by a pitch by former Red Allan Simpson. He's going to miss for to six weeks.

Rheal Cormier, Todd Coffey, Brad Salmon followed Bailey (two innings, three runs -- see post below) with hitless, scoreless, one-inning outings. Jon Coutlangus and Calvin Medlock each pitched a scoreless inning. Tom Shearn gave up the other run.

Josh Hamilton went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a RBI. He's up to .533. "He can hit a little bit," Jerry Narron said. "It was good to get him in center field. He has great speed."

Scott Hatteberg hit a two-run homer in the first inning for the second straight day. Joey Votto had a two-RBI single.

The Senator, Simpson, threw nine straight balls to begin his outing, inclduing a pair of wild pitches. The Pirates walked seven on the day.

Just got in-

Looks like a good overall effort from everyone.

It's early yet, but is anyone else a little concerned that Ross isn't hitting yet?

Love your blog and I'm sure you've heard this before, but with C. Trent doing the same blog it seems kind of redundant (sic?). Don't you think? Perhaps you guys could split up the duties.....

Ross has eight at-bats. I would guess Ted Williams had one hit over two game a couple of hundred times in the his career. So, it's way, way ealy to be concerned with anyone's results.

As for the blog question, Trent and I work for different newspapers that feed into the same website. The blogs do dupe at times but they're usually fairly different. For instance, I didn't even notice Miss CC, at least as far my wife knows.
