Slice of heaven
Doesn't get much better than this. Blue skies, breezy, no himidity, 70 degrees or so, and Homer Bailey makes a spring debut at beautiful McKechnie Field. A great day to have my job, especially since Kevin Kelly took the "B" duties and I didn't leave Siesta Key until 10 a.m. The "B" game was extended to six innings, so Jerry Narron is still at Pirate City.
A little stream of consciousness blogging: Heard Thunder Road and Born to Run back-to-back on the iPod with it set to shuffle. What was the chances of that? . . . March 7 is Amateur Night at Cheetah's. Mark your calendars, girls . . . How about my dining luck? Last night, I go to Firehouse Subs, hoping for a quick bite after work on workout at the Y. "Sorry, sir," the guy behind the counter says. "We're out of meat." Two nights before, I went to Tijuana Flats for a quick Mexican meal. Waited 40 minutes for my combo. C. Trent was caught in same Flats time warp . . . Florida laws allow you to smoke if the bar is outside, and/or if liquor revenues exceed food revenues. That according to the barmaid at the Siesta Key Oyster Bar . . . The Speakeasy's liquor revenues must exceed the food revenues because roughly 93 percent of the people in their were puffing away. The band was a mixture of rap and hard rock. They did a cover of Johnny Cash's Walk the Line. Didn't recognize a word or note. That was ticket to exit. . . . Pete King of Sports Illustrated is here at McKechnie (which isi a fun work to say) . Ran into him as I climbed the steps to press box. Not sure if he's working or not. Will find find out.
And will blog away on Bailey's outing.
