Bruce on fire

Jay Bruce, the No. 1 pick in '05, is having a sensational year at high A Sarasota. He went 3-for-4 with a double in the a 6-1 win Sunday. He's at least two hits, including a double in his last five games.

Here's what he's doing against the Florida State League so far:
.351 batting average (1st)
9 HR (2nd)
32 RBI (5th)
60 hits (1st)
14 doubles (5th)
.649 slugging (1st)
28 extra-base hits (1st)
34 runs (1st)
5 triples (T1st)

At 20, Bruce is a year a young than Adam Dunn was when he made his climb from AA to bigs. But you've got to think that Bruce is on the fast track to the majors. He can probably expect a bump to AA at the All-Star Break.

John,
How has Stubbs been doing? I haven't heard anyone even mention him in awhile. Does he look to be another 1st round wash out? Or, has been hurt or something?

Stubbs is doing well at Dayton.

.282 BA
.365 obp
six homers
17 rbi
8 steals

He may move up to Sarasota when Bruce goes to Double A.

Ok this is getting worse..After one inning 4-0 Washington. Can the Reds do anything? Here a few suggestions...

Fire Narron the players have lost their drive to play for him.

Fire Jacoby he is not getting it done either (Just look at Dunn's stats)

Trade Adam Dunn if there are any takers.

every year I come into the season with hope that they will again regain their form that they had in 1990. Again we wait for another year.

Why do the Reds have the worst defense and team chemistry in baseball, their pre-game bp and warm up is a joke, they don't practice, have team meetings, get on each other's case when they half-ass, etc...Reds fan now living in Chicago, why are the fans not up in arms? Time for Narron to go - I'm out

Okay, I've had it. We're losing 6-0 to the worst team in baseball (except for the Reds). The so-called "it's not conclusive" trading away of Kearns and Lopez is now officially a stinker. Kearns has driven in 2, each has scored a run, and the game's not a third of the way completed. This is Narron's mess now, though, he needs to be fired TONIGHT or this season is in the garbage. And bring up Jay and a half-dozen other minor leaguers if you're going to keep Narron on. We might as well have a spring training from now through September. All else is FUTILE. This team STINKS, and NARRON isn't making things better.

How you feeling now, Justin?

8-7 I believe. Have you exhaled yet, or are you still holding your breath?

Jay,

I thought Carson Keiner was going to start in Billings, but I see he's getting ABs at Sarasota (and doing well).

Is Billings still in his future, or is he going to start higher now?

I thought he was. They may be getting him some at-bats because he's down there at extended spring anyway. He could turn out to be a great story. His numbers at Texas were very good.

Sorry, John, I meant to type your first name but was also thinking of your last name and wound up typing Jay. I hope you won't hold that against me and find it in your heart to answer my query.
