Prior to that, he served in a variety of roles for the Enquirer: backup Reds writer, UC beat writer, backup Bengals writer and as a general assignment reporter. He is a Cincinnati native and a graduate of Elder High School and the University of Dayton.

Dot, dot, dot

From the Reds notes (TBA is still isted for Saturday's starter by the way:

#13: During on-field ceremonies prior to Saturday's 7:10 p.m. game vs Fla, the Reds will retire the uniform jersey number 13 worn from 1970-88 by shortstop Dave Concepcion...a press conference featuring Concepcion, Johnny Bench, Joe Morgan, Tony Perez and Sparky Anderson will be held Saturday in the Crosley Room on press box level at 1:30 p.m....FSN Ohio will air the Reds Live pre-game show half an hour early to broadcast the festivities...the normal pre-game show will begin that night at 6:00 p.m., followed by the live broadcast of the ceremony at 6:30.

GOLD GLOVER: Ken Griffey Jr. joins C Johnny Bench and 2B Joe Morgan as Reds players named to the All-Time Rawlings Gold Glove Team in a worldwide poll of more than 1 million fans...that trio will be recognized on the field at 7:02 p.m. tonight...the rest of the All-Time Gold Glovers are P Greg Maddux, 1B Wes Parker, 3B Brooks Robinson, SS Ozzie Smith, OF Willie Mays and OF Roberto Clemente.

PRIDE OF HISPANIC COMMUNITY: Tomorrow, The Spanish Journal is inviting the first 100 fans to celebrate, meet Cincinnati Reds players and enjoy a complimentary lunch provided by Los Portales Mexican Restaurant on Montgomery Road. The Spanish Journal (La Jornada Latina) will honor Reds players Juan Castro, Javier Valentin, Edwin Encarnacion, Elizardo Ramirez, Pedro Lopez and Jorge Cantu with “Pride of the Hispanic Community” plaques. It's from 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Los Portales Mexican Restaurant, 10780 Montgomery Road. (513) 247-9102

Last I checked two days go, Lopez still hadn't resumed baseball activity.
