Hamilton activatived; Bellhorn DFA'd

From the Reds:

Prior to this afternoon's game the Reds returned from a rehabilitation assignment and reinstated from the 15-day disabled list OF Josh Hamilton and designated for assignment Mark Bellhorn.

Since 7/12 Hamilton had been on the DL with a sprained right wrist. He hit safely in 4 of his 5 rehab apps at Louisville (6-16, .375, 2rbi, 2bb).

For the Reds, Bellhorn made 5 apps as a pinch hitter and 1 appearance as a defensive replacement at 3B.

Griffey, Gonzalez are getting days off:

Hatteberg 1b
Hopper cf
Phillips 2b
Dunn lf
Keppinger ss
Encarnacion 3b
Ellison rf
Ross c
Arroyo p

Apparently, Gonzalez's throwing arm is a tender.

Please tell me why Ellison is in the line-up instead of Hamilton. Since I am in a crabby mood, why is George Grande still doing Reds broadcasts? I am sure he is a "great guy" and I "wish him all the best", but please shut him up.

I don't like to complain about lineups so I'll be brief here, mainly because I have no idea where to begin with that one. Looks like it was made with mugshots and a dartboard.

y is Ellison getting a start? That's easy - it's because Moeller and Bellhorn are gone.

Please tell me why Hatty leads off instead of Hopper.IMO Hoppers speed and X factor makes him LO. While Hattys bat control and plate discipline plus his baseball savy makes him a better 2nd hitter.

I say Kepp should bat 1st before Hatty.

I like Hatteberg as the leadoff guy. His on-base percentage (.395) is 50 points higher than Hopper. And Hopper's the best bunter on the team, so if Hatteberg gets on, he can bunt him over.

Ellison 0 for 4, two Ks, nice choice for the starting lineup! The ping-pong ball nose set will NEVER lead this team to anything other than LOSING SEASONS, unless they stop fooling around with cast-offs. Ellison ought to be on the first plane to wherever, this evening.

Ellison is actually a five-tool player ... drums, clarinet, tuba, the hammer dulcimer and the pipe organ. Get off his case. He can play, on the road, with Arroyo. What I can't understand is why Kearns and Lopez aren't starting. Oh yeah, Krivsky traded them for ... uh, someone help me out here, who did we get? Oh yeah, no one. LOL.
