It's my blog and I'll . . .

I let things get a little out of hand a few days ago with posters take shots at each other. I apologize.

But I'm now rejecting all comments that take shots at other posters. No name-calling. You can take exception to what someone posts -- just do so in civil manner and rip the post, not the poster.

We're supposed to get a new blogging system in a few weeks. When it's up and running, you'll be able to post instantly and posters will police themselves for the most part. Until then, I'll try to keep it clean.

its good to see that you read the posts....at least you have some interest in what you're doing unlike the bengals blogs...thank you

i think you're on to the right idea - even if it's just a nickname... when folks can't be anonymous, it leads to some degree of self-policing.

Peace to all my fellow Reds fans.

Anyone been catching that series on FSN called Reds Rewind Classics,It's pretty cool.Playing a bunch of historic reds games from all era's.

I just wanna see the Red's Franchise get back to being a powerhouse it once was.Hopefully, BC & company does too.

Sounds Good to me John,I just wanna talk Reds baseball(without english class 101 & personal attacks) but if someone put's me down, expect me to say my 2 cents back,It's how I was raised,to never take B.S from anyone & Voice my opinion. That's the Cincinnati Creed I know!!!!That's how Pete would do it,headfirst baby!!!!!!!!!

You should have been a kindergarten teacher John! When do we get milk and cookies?

When do we get starting pitching capable of getting this sorry team back to .500?

When do we get to see a Reds team full of slim fleet athletes instead of tubby panting slugs?

2008: new manager, new blog, same old awful Reds!

John .. no need to apologize..everyone in this town knows you are a good decent person

but..this is a blog and sometimes passionate sports fans get carried away and go after one another..it is not an insult to your morals, values, or the way you comport yourself John

I get called more names than anyone on this blog and I am not offended

24/7 and reaganspad are just jealous I go to more games than they do

I still think we should all get together midseason..have dinner and see a game

and unfortunately, same old garbage fans in some cases.

"posters will police themselves". In one breath, you apologize for NOT policing things better and in the next announce that we’ve earned the right to self-restraint?

Anon 6:15,
You know you have a choice not to follow the Reds or read this blog right?

For the life of me, I will never understand why people post on blogs like these and in this case take shots at John Fay. Why does this environment have to be so difficult? Make your comment about John's post or the topic in general and leave it at that. The sense of entitlement among sports fans is ridiculous.

Ohmygod, I find it outlandish and quite telling that three of the most offensive, inciting and name calling tools on this blog (people who should be banned--Cheviot, Reddlegg in Colo. and Jack in Blue Ash) are among the first 6 to post a response to this thread.

It's as if they are saying "but ma, I don't have my hand in the cookie jar" even though she's looking right at them.

This is just priceless.

What do you guys think of the Reds going after Kenny Lofton? Good leadoff guy, insurane for Bruce?

It's called cyberdisinhibition ... the absence of immediate feedback makes people write things that they would normally edit and censor were they speaking face to face with someone. Normally nice people on blogs get very rude.

I hate the Cubs!!!!!!!

dang Astros. Cardinals are cool (the bird, not the team) and who wouldn't like a brew?

just doing my bit in the new kinder gentler by focusing on the enemy

nice job Jack, in a thread about name calling, tagging a few of us as jealous. I wish you would go to more games than 30

I find reading the posts and not the comments helps keep my sanity.

We all have our opinion. Just leave it at that and get on with your life.

John, any word or insight on the negotiations with Goodyear, AZ?

at 12:22 PM Blogger Cheviot Sports Authority said...

(10:42) This fine young gentleman who posts anonymously would like me banned because he does not always share my opinion?

Name calling?, offensive?, inciting? Not me. But do go back and re-read your own post young man.

I don't necessarily agree or disagree with posts from Jack or Reddlegg but I would be interested in hearing what they have to say about this.

John - I was afraid you were going to start singing old Leslie Gore tunes... Whew, glad that passed...

Saw a headline on the wwl that says the Stankees are planning on starting Joba in the pen thise year, and then transitioning him to the rotation during the season.

Any chance the Reds would use this approach with one of their young guns, Cueto, Bailey or Volquez? I kind of like it, maybe give them a chance to experience some ML success out of the pen before expanding their role?

Just received 6" of snow last night...it makes me that much more excited about Reds baseball and Spring Training....which hopefully will be held in Arizona soon:)!

The only thing I've heard recently on the Goodyear thing is the finances still have to lined up. The Reds are confident they will be. But they pretty confident about Sarasota a year ago.

at 12:52 PM Anonymous Anonymous said...

10:42 anon..I have repeated the reds record a number of times and I dont think that they will go to the playoffs this year. If that is inciting, I apologize.

My girlfriend calls me an idiot and moron all the time..those are terms of endearment

frankly.. i feel things are quite tame in here anon..but sports fans are genuinely passionate so expect fireworks sometimes

anon ..I have ongoing diatribe with reaganspad..I don't hate the guy ..He just believes in fairytales..I am more of a realist

I sincerely apologize if I have said anything that hurts your feelings anon

at 12:55 PM Anonymous Anonymous said...

I like ya Cheviot..as I told John we should all get together and take in a game sometime.

John hows your expense account?

at 2:10 PM Blogger reaganspad said...

Jack, you are not a realist, you are a pessimist. I am a optimist.

You see the Reds in as the first half of 07 team of Jerry Narron and that they have not improved their lot, being lucky to win 80 games and call it realism.

I see the team as the second half 07 team of Pete Mackanin, an over 500 team that has improved with Cordero.

07 was not a fairy tale, but a tale of 2 seasons

funeJohn, is there a reason my response to Anon 10:42 wasn't posted.

Seem's like I should have my say too....
