Bruce update

Jay Bruce apparently jammed his right shoulder, diving back to first on a pickoff attempt. That's why he was taken out of the game. He went 3-for-3 with a homer (his third) and a triple.

He probably won't play tomorrow. But it's not thought to be serious.

We will have good pitching tomorrow and some bats ready to slaughter a mediocre southpaw!

Redlegs!!!

(trying to keep it positive after Big Z basically hit for the cycle against us..lol...)

John I have a quick question. can you tell me what is going on with Rafeal Gonzalaz ? last year he pitched ok for Dayton and now he is again not on any minor league roster ? A few years ago he was gone with personal issues. I know he has a history of attitude issues. I was wondering if you could let us know. I follow the young kids alot and was wondering. Thanks ! Oh and I love your blog I hope others dotn ruin it for us all !

I think the Reds are doing the same thing the Rays started to do with Evan Longoria...keep him in the minors a little longer to increase the time before he's arbitration eligible.

It's not smart...but it's not stupid either.

Jeremy Horst, a LHP from Wyoming, may be another Tom Browning (Tom is from Casper, WY) on the way. He's pitching well in Dayton and did well last year in Billings.

Well, I wanted to see Corey Patterson do well, but at present he's hitting .220, and has more extra-base hits than singles - that's not a leadoff man. With Bruce finding his stroke, it's time. We also need to clear out the Fogg and give Belisle or Bailey a shot - I'd be all for Belisle in the 'pen over Coffey (who I like, too, but he paints broadway, not the corners). I maintainted before that '09 was our year, and we're certainly not out of it this year, but I'd rather see us look to the future and try to take our chances with the young guns than continue to scuffle with the old ones.
