Minor matters

I'm on my own today. My man, Jamie Ramsey, was busy running the Flying Pig Half Marathon. Word is he finished in 1:55. Nice effort.

Louisville lost 4-3 to Richmond. Jay Bruce went 0-for-4. He's down to .284. . . Chattanooga falls to Mississippi 2-1. Sean Henry, the outfielder obtained in the Jeff Conine trade, hit his third homer. He's hitting .333 and he's only 22. . . Sarasota lost to Palm Beach, but shortstop Chris Valaika hit his seventh home run. The two-run shot gave him 31 RBI. He's hitting .387. I'd move him to Chattanooga. . . Todd Frazier went 3-for-5 in Dayton's 10-1 loss to Burlington. Luis Montano, 23-year-old right-hander, suffered his first loss. He's 4-1 with a 1.69 ERA and Mario Soto speaks highly of him.

Hi John
Quick question, At the all star break what minor leagues promotions will happen? Do you think Sean Henry, Todd Frazier , and Chris Valaika will all be in Louisville or higher before the end of this season? Thanks for doing the "Minor Matters" reports.

jamie was under 2 hours, but do you know how many people beat him? And he started by going into Ky first. I know it was early, but at mile 2, we should have stopped him and replaced him with Freel. Freel's fast and would have taken a more direct approach to the finish line. Heck, we should have brought Bruce up to run this race.

I think the Red hitters ought to be forced to watch their half innings as a team three times. And there must be a pop quiz afterwards (although the questions and answers would be the same every day).

I love baseball. I have loved the Reds for 35 years. During the winter I dream of summer days at the park watching the Reds BUT..I refuse to pay for a single ticket to watch this team play. Anyone who has already purchased tickets for this year....SUCKERS.

Jay Bruce needs to get called up. The kid is slumping because he most likely has lost a little drive trying to figure out what in the world needs to happen for him to get the call. Our current stock of OF's aren't hitting the ball....so why not give the kid a shot?!
