Cookie Monster
There is a very happy group of Girl Scouts running around Sarasota these days.
Reds relief pitcher Gary Majewski recently purchased $77 worth of assorted Girl Scout cookies – enough to fill the bed of his pickup truck – at the local Wal-Mart.
Why?
“I want to make my teammates look as fat as me,” Majewski joked this morning. “No, I do it every year. I just find a Girl Scout and buy all the stuff from her.”
Every morning, Reds clubhouse and equipment manager Rick Stowe puts out two new boxes of cookies in the clubhouse. Little Brownies and Do-Si-Dos are today's offering.
“I’m a big fan of the Samoas,” Majewski said. “But I’ve started getting hooked on the chocolate-covered peanut butter ones.” Majewski, by the way, is scheduled to throw off the bullpen mound today for the first time this spring.
UPDATE: Majewski threw 20 pitches off one of the bullpen mounds on the back fields this morning. Word is the session went well.
