Wilson starts

Paul Wilson gets the start today against the Phillies. The lineup in includes Jimmy Rollins, Chase Utley and Pat Burrell. So it will be a good test.

The competition for the fifth starter is the most interesting of camp. My power ratings as of March 5:

Kirk Saarloos
Wilson
Matt Belisle
Bobby Livingston
Elizardo Ramirez
Phil Dumatrait
Victor Santos
Michael Gosling

That's based on past results, potential but it's really just a guess. By the way, I don't think Homer Bailey is really in consideration.

The list shows the added depth. Last year, Gosling and Justin Germano were competing for the fifth spot that Dave Williams won. Brandon Claussen was also in the rotation.

Don't think any of four would win the fifth spot this year.

Injury report: Ryan Freel will be held out more day with the sore wrist; Kyle Lohse (hamstring) will throws a side Wednesday; Bronson Arroyo (flu) will face hitters today; Ken Griffey Jr. (hand) will take BP today; Jeff Conine (back) will be held out one more day.

Jeff Keppinger is out four to six weeks with the broken finger. Got to feel for the guy. He was right in the mix to make the club.

My guess is that means Mark Bellhorn makes the club, if the Reds don't keep three catchers. "There's a lot of ways we can go with that last spot," Jerry Narron said. "Bellhorn is in the mix with five or six other guys."
