Livingston's first outing

Bobby Livingston pitched well enough in spring training in win the fifth starter spot. But he didn't dazzle in his debut for Louisville -- 5 1/3 IP, 9 hits, 4 runs, 1 walk, 3 strikeouts. We'll see how that compares to what Eric Milton does Sunday. It's understandable if Livingston wasn't on top of his game. Getting sent out was a major letdown.

The Bats won 5-4 in 10. Gary Majewski got two outs. He also gave up two hits and a walk but did not allow a run.

The pitching star for the Reds' minor leaguers on opening night was Carlos Fisher. The 25-year-old right-hander threw seven innings of the shutout, three-hit ball in Sarasota's 3-2 win over Fort Myers. Imagine that, an A ball pitcher going seven in the first game.

I say Milton surprises us and does well. The cold will work in his favor keeping the ball in and the better defense will help too. He'll go 6 innings or more and get a quaility start.

The Dbacks/Reds series looks real good. Their 3,4,5 pitchers go against our 2,3,4 and their fifth guy is filling in for Randy Johnson. I'm sure the team will like the warmer weather.
