Reds Insider From news of the day to news of the weird, John Fay provides a glimpse of what it’s like to cover the Cincinnati Reds
John Fay has been the Reds beat writer for the Enquirer since 2001. Prior to that, he served in a variety of roles for the Enquirer: backup Reds writer, UC beat writer, backup Bengals writer and as a general assignment reporter. He is a Cincinnati native and a graduate of Elder High School and the University of Dayton.
This from Kevin Kelly: Eric Milton to the DL. Roster's at 24 with no Victor Santos. They've added Eddie Guardado to the 40-man. Down to Bobby Livingston and Santos, perhaps?
I believe putting Guardado on the 40 man roster and on the 60 day DL still eaves a spot open. If so could Santos be the temporary closer? Narron has been on the record saying he prefers defined bullpen roles. Guardado piching in June seems like a long-shot even if he is ahead of schedule. Does this move Saarloos to the #5 starter with Belisle #4? Still a few unanswered questions. Any word on a possible Cormier deal?
I really hope he's injured and that's the reason he was like a BP pitcher during the spring. I hope he gets well in the next two weeks.... I don't think they will need a fifth starter until then anyway and Livingston probably wasn't ready for prime time yet- although I think B.Liv will be a 10-15 game winner next season if he gets 30 starts.
Speaking of (not really but HOPEFULLY) Josh Hamilton, THE Natural "WONDERBOY" Is on ESPN right now (11:00 P.M. E.S.T). Good move by ESPN the night before the "real" Opening Day. I put this in my top three MLB Movies (Field of Dreams, The Natural, and Major League) - In no particular order. Field of dreams is a Drama, ML is obviously a Comedy, and "THE NATURAL" is a fantasy-Sci fi in a way. Whatever mood I'm in would be my favorite Baseball movie. If I'm feeling the "Sci fi Baseball movie" it's the Natural.

With Milton's DL stint retroactive to March 23rd, he can come off a week today, which is the first time the Reds will need a #5 starter.

Totally off subject, but:
"The Natural" On ESPN (Not Josh Hamilton)
