Narron fired
The Reds fired Jerry Narron Sunday and replaced him withg Pete Mackanin, the club's advance scout.
Mackanin, 55, served as interim manager for thePirates after Llyod McClendon was fired in 2005.
Narron's Reds teams went 31-51 (.378) this season and 157-179 (.467) overall.
No one with club is commenting tomorrow's press conference.

Jerry can thank the bullpen for his firing. I dont agree though with the choice of interim manager. Why not use Bucky Dent since he has Triple A experience and can at least keep some clubhouse cohesion. I know they need something new to happen but at least Bucky could keep the team from totally giving up after the all star break. I think this choice is horrible for Castellini even though Narron was the sacrificial lamb.
Ummm... What's Mike Hargrove doing?
All Star Congrats to Junior. Two guys slighted from the squad: Brandon Phillips good power & speed ~ Aaron Harang how does he get overlooked???
Mac who? Geez, if this doesnt speak volumes about the lack of faith the brass has in the coaching staff. They all oughta get fired as well. Has Dick Pole EVER had a positive impression on any pitcher? He's has Bailey now for a month or so, and Homer's turned into crap. Well, at least Uncle Bob the produce guy and Shame On Me Krivsky woke up and made a change to try and start to clean up this huge pile of dung.
I posted last week, that I wouldn't post another opinion the rest of the season. However with the firing of Narron, I'm back in the flow. Although, its too little too late for this Reds team. They will gut this team from pilar to post starting tomorrow. When this organization start to realize you must pay to get results, we will have middle of the pack managers. Maybe just maybe Castellini will open his eyes and wallet and go out and hire a top manager.
why not put him in the front office he has year left on his contract?
It's long overdue and very welcome news.
So long Newman, er, I mean Jerry!
Seems like Narron "lost" this team, if he ever had it. Hopefully, Krivsky will follow him in the off season.
Bob C. may not be a baseball man, but he's not stupid and he understands "results".
Why not Billy Hatcher? He seems like he has good leadership qualities.
Bring Back PETE!
BARRY LARKIN!!!!!
Not that I'm saying Narron was a good manager but the real problem is that the picthing staff stinks.
Since Narron didn't sign them, he's not totally to blame. It's like giving a chef a dozen rotten eggs and asking him to make breakfast with them. Then you fire the chef because the breakfast tastes bad!!
Krivsky's fingerprints are all over this mess, perhaps even moreso than Narron. Maybe Wayne should have followed Jerry out the door? Instead, he brings in Pete Mackanin to the rescue! This is turning into a bad episode of F Troop.
Still need help in the bullpen. Same cast of characters, same results. You can blame Krizky just as much as Narron. BTW - interim manager is like a substitute teacher - only there as a figure head. The monkeys will not respect the sub teacher and only a permanent manager will have success. Why not hire Gerardi, let him clean house, bring in his own people, and see what happens. Marvin at least won win Mike Brown gave him the reigns.
Wayne Krivsky should be the next firing, seems that he has done nothing but try to turn the Reds into Twins South since he has been here, that may have worked if he had any decent relief pitching, but all he can do is find tweedle dum and tweeedle dee. Bob Castellinni is in danger of turning into another Carl Lindner type of owner, why not spend money to make money? And since Joey Votto and Phil Dumatrait are part of the future of the team, bring them up now and get their feet wet
This is an absolute joke. Krivsky built a horrible pen and Narron gets fired. Who exactly is he supposed to pitch after the sixth inning?
