Minor matters

From Jamie Ramsey:

Louisville pounds Indianapolis…The Bats have won 5 in a row…Jeff Bannon hits a grand slam…Joey Votto homers…Jay Bruce hits his 41st double of the year (T5th in the minors, 71st extra-base hit ranks 1st in the minors)…Jorge Cantu with 3 RBI…Chattanooga and Sarasota were both off yesterday (Alfred Hitchcock’s birthday)…Dayton loses to Burlington …Casper wasn’t very friendly to Billings…GCL Reds lose to GCL Red Sox.

THIS DATE IN BASEBALL HISTORY
1996: 3b Tim Naehring (1-for-3, 1bb) in the seventh inning off LHP Huck Flener belts his fourth home run of the season, making the score 5-2 at Sky Dome. The Red Sox plate 6 runs over the final 2 innings to beat the Blue Jays 8-6.

1995: 3b Tim Naehring in the fifth inning off RHP Scott Kamieniecki drills a 3-run homer, his seventh of the season. The Red Sox go on to beat the Yankees 9-3 at Fenway Park for their 12th straight victory. Naehring finishes the day 2-for-3 with 2 runs, 2 walks, 1 HR and a career high 4 RBI, lifting his batting average to .317. The Red Sox would have their 12-game winning streak snapped the next day.

Naehring’s career on August 14: 2g, 3-for-6, .500, 2hr, 3r, 3bb, 5rbi
