Marty and the Creeper

Marty Brennaman and Chris Welsh are doing the radio tonight. It's because of a glitch in the schedule. It's only one they're scheduled to do.

Without Joe Nuxhall to fill in, look for the Reds to add a guy to radio mix. I think he will come from one of the minor league affiliates.

I'm one of the apparent few who likes George Grand & Chris Welsh on TV, but Welsh on the radio is a little tough on the ears. Silence is golden -- we don't need to have every moment filled with verbose descriptions of the game. Part of the magic of radio is being able to use our imagination.

Welsh is going to confuse Marty with all that OBP talk.

Dan Hoard?

Don't think it will be Hoard. He's doing Triple-A games for the Red Sox.

I thought it weird to hear/see Thom and the Cowboy on FSN tonight. Sure is going to be different not hearing the 'Ol Lefthander on the radio.

Reds played a heck of the 9th.

I don't quite understand the "glitch" in the schedule. Marty & Chris are doing radio... Thom and Jeff are doing TV... How hard could it possibly be to swap Chris and the Cowboy there?

We were so spoiled for so long with Marty and Joe. Their serendipitous and synergistic chemistry was one of historic proportions. Now we have cushy characters like "The Cowboy" and peppy fair-haired Thom, but no one comes close to what we had we it was just to great guys filling the air waves and our hearts with the summer thrills of baseball splendor. The genuine camaraderie of Marty and Joe are often imitated, but never duplicated.

Out with the 'Cowboy', in with Welsh...permanently.

Anybody, anywhere so long as its not George Grande. Dan Hoard would have been a great addition. Even Steve Stewart would be a blessing compared to White Noise.

I really think WLW and the Reds should add Tracy Jones and the swing man. Tracy's baseball smarts matched with Marty's genius could make for a dynamite connect on the radio.

There has to be someone in reds baseball land that can call games either, radio or TV, besides Chris Welsh. I know it can't be an easy job but when I'd rather press mute and listen to music while i'm watching the game, you know it's bad. Thom B. said it best last year during a radio broadcast with his dad, it made my year:

Marty:" i saw you worked with the creeper last night..."
Thom:"i sure did. Ol' chris has all the answers... and boy are they tired"
