Gosling Saturday?

Early notes:

The plan right now is to start Michael Gosling Saturday -- unless, of course, he's needed like Victor Santos was.

Gosling's numbers against right-handers are scary. Right-handers are hitting .370 with .525 on-base and a 1.068 OPS.

Good quote from Pete Mackanin: "If (Bill) Bray had been available all year, I might not be here."

A healthy Bray would have gone a long way toward fortifying the bullpen. Whether it would have saved Jerry Narron's job is hard to say.

Also none of the five unsigned picks from the first 30 rounds signed. They go back into the draft.

Minor league report from Jamie Ramsey (Miguel Perez is up to AA, by the way):

Louisville loses another heartbreaker at Indy (11 innings)…Tom Shearn with a solid effort…Joey Votto with a pair of hits…Jay Bruce with his 42nd double…Chattanooga loses to Tennessee…Drew Anderson with 4 hits (7-for-10 in last 2 games)…Miguel Perez belts 2 homers…Danny Dorn homers again (3 straight games, 5 of 6 games)…Sarasota loses at Dunedin…Dayton recognizes National Relaxation Day…Billings wins vs. Casper…Todd Frazier with 3 hits…GCL Reds beat the GCL Twins.

Hey John, why has no one in the media written or talked about the Reds taking their radio rights in-house and taking the sales away from WLW? That is a major sports business story and the revenues could have a major impact on the free agent recruitment this off-season. Give us some story baby.

I know it's happening. The contract is not signed. Thanks for the suggestion. We'll probably do something on it shortly.

I guess it is possible that Bray could saved Narron's job, but I am not sure that 4% of the roster would have made that much of a difference given how poorly and uninspired the Reds had played for JR....

John, I read on ESPN that Jeff Conine cleared waivers. Have you heard anything regarding potential trades? (Not surprisingly, Hatteberg was claimed and the waiver withdrawn)
