Gonzalez on bereavement; Bellhorn up

From the Reds:

TRANSACTIONS: Today the Reds placed on the bereavement list SS Alex Gonzalez, selected from Louisville the contract of IF Mark Bellhorn and transfered to the 60-day disabled list IF Juan Castro.

Given the circumstances of the Reds and how difficult this must be for Gonzalez, it makes sense that the Rds tell him to stay with the child as long as necessary.

The club probably needs to take an extended look at Jeff Keppinger anyway, but, more importantly, Gonzalez needs to be with him family.

I completely agree John. The Reds need to to A-Gonz to forget about the rest of the season. Family is more important, especially since the Reds are done this year and they have prospects that could take his place to prepare for next season. Gonzo has been great this season, except for a few errors which is understandable considering the stress he must be under. Good luck to his family.

Alex needs to stay home. He needs to spend as much time as possible with his family. Life is too short. The season is lost for the REDS. Stay home with your family Alex. We are thinking of you and praying for you.
