Reds 5, Cubs 1

Scott Hatteburg's bases-loaded and Alez Gonzalez's sac fly made it 5-1 after.

The post on Adam's Dunn's day is worth repeating. Dunn hit home runs in his first two at-bats.

They were both impressive and put Dunn in some elite company . Dunn's second one -- a solo shot in the third -- went off the batter's eye in right-center. Center fielder Alfonzo Soriano barely moved. It was out that fast. In the first, Ryan Freel walked. Dunn crushed a pitch about a third of the way up the seats in right to make it 2-0.

Dunn has five homers on Opening Day -- most of any Red. Dunn hit two home runs and had five RBI in the 2005 opener against the Mets. The only other Red to hit two homers on Opening Day was Frank McCormick in 1941.

Dunn's second homer was the 200th of his career. He started the day tied with Barry Larkin at seventh on the Reds all-time list.

If I recall correctly Junior is second all time with 7 homeruns on opening day... the most in the culbhouse (though not all with the reds).

You are correct, sir. Griffey's tied with Eddie Matthews, Willie Mays and Babe Ruth. Frank Robinson leads the way with eight on Opeing Day. No jokers in that deck.
