More on Homer
This is the first time I've talked to Bailey. I didn't know what to expect, particularly because of an interview he did recently where he snipped at reporters, but he was delightful after his three-inning outing. He was pleased with his fastballs and change-ups, and blamed himself for a Kevin Cash hit that scored two.
When Cash was at bat, catcher Paul Bako called for a fastball and Bailey threw a curveball.
“Me being the stubborn ass that I am, I shake off Bako for a curveball that (Cash) hits up the middle to score two. Guess I was wrong on that one,” Bailey said.

At least the kid is willing and able to admit that he made a mistake. Far too many people are giving this kid unwarranted grief. If management wasn't willing to deal Homer and others for Bedard or Blanton I seriously doubt he's on the move. I've been following him since he was drafted (as have many others) and we deserve a chance to see what the kid is truely made of. As does himself.
He can't be so head strong and has to listen to others who have more experience in the bigs, not to mention he is far from estabilished......

Perhaps if Bailey shook him off, Bako told the hitter what was coming like in Bull Durham. :)
... "when you speak of me, speak kindly meat."
Maybe Bako should tell him to hit the bull...
Jeff Brantley was great on the Hot Stove League tonight with Doc.
Jeff said Homer's problem is that he has a big, loopy curve ball that's never going to be called a strike in the majors. Anytime he throws it, it's going to be a ball or else he's going to hang it and it will be hit out of the park.
Homer's got to get a tighter curveball to be sucessful, and the sooner he accepts that and develops it, the sooner he'll be a winner for the Reds.
