Today's lineup
Hi, everyone. I'm filling in today for John Fay, who's taking a well-deserved day off from Reds coverage. I'm here at City of Palms Park in Fort Myers awaiting the 1:05 p.m. start against the Boston Red Sox, and it's pretty packed.
Here's the lineup:
Ryan Freel CF
Scott Hatteberg DH
Brandon Phillips 2B
Edwin Encarnacion 3B
Joey Votto 1B
Juan Castro SS
Drew T. Anderson LF
Jolbert Cabrera RF
Paul Bako C
Homer Bailey, P.
Also pitching: Edinson Volquez, Ramon Ramirez, Tom Shearn, Marcus McBeth, Mike Lincoln, Adam Pettyjohn, Alexander Smit, Daryl Thompson, Tyler Pelland, Josh Roenicke and Sergio Valenzuela.
Manager Dusty Baker lamented yesterday's rain-shorted game because of its toll on the pitching schedule. Guys that were supposed to pitch yesterday traveled today.

Hey Shannon. Thanks for filling in. I don't know if you'll be answering questions, but I wondered something--A fellow Redlegs fan told me yesterday that the Reds signed a 16 year old Latin American player who supposedly has off-the-charts skills. Plus speed and power--Allegedly 6'6". Supposedly the Reds were able to sign him now because other teams weren't aware that he could be signed yet(there are several complicated stipulations regarding the signing of these international free agents) Have you or any of the other Reds fans who frequent this blog heard anything?
they paid 2 million for the dude..blowing every other team away

That has all the details. It also doesn't sound like there were any other offers for him because every other team didn't know he was eligible.
Thanks guys. I heard it was the highest signing bonus they ever paid to an international player. Let's hope he can harness these skills!!! Looks like Bob Miller really came through.
Great article. A young Vlad Guerrero? The next Dave Winfield... Sounds good. Time will tell
Come on, now! Let the woman do her job without that stuff. Who are you, Zeke Mowatt?
Shannon, any word on Jay Bruce's injury?
The Reds announced the signing Sunday. First time they ever did that. I'll ask Mario Soto about him. I'm waiting for No Country for Old Men to start. Walked the beach this morning. I'll be a well-rested blogger tomorrow.
They probably gave such a great offer to avoid him poking around.
Thanks! No Country is a great film. Enjoy!
so was American Gangster
